Nina Hornjatkevyc, M.Sc.
Practice Lead and Registered Psychologist

Nina is Practice Lead at Synthesis Psychology. For over a decade she has provided personal counselling support as a Registered Psychologist. It has been her honour to work with thousands of clients. She is committed to clients’ goals and enjoys collaborating with them to explore their unique circumstances, strengths and needs, consider options and support their personal, educational and work lives.

Aaron Telnes, M.C.
Registered Provisional Psychologist

Aaron strives to help his clients with their mental health through fostering client strengths, promoting self-awareness, discerning and implementing goals, and strategic problem-solving. Aaron draws on his experience as a crisis counsellor to support clients and facilitate change in even the most challenging and uncomfortable situations. Aaron also draws on his experience as a yoga practitioner to incorporate mindfulness effectively into the therapeutic relationship. Aaron endeavours to accommodate his clients by incorporating therapeutic styles and intervention strategies from client-centered, cognitive-behavioural, and mindfulness therapies.

April Dyrda, M.Sc.
Registered Provisional Psychologist

April’s strengths-based style allows her to support clients in discovering and exploring their potential to achieve wellbeing in their lives. In taking a collaborative and often humanistic approach, April prioritizes the relation elements of the counselling processing, working together with her clients to achieve positive change and growth. Guided by the unique needs of each individual, she often draws from a variety of counselling modalities; incorporating elements of narrative practice, solution-focused techniques, and emotion focused therapy into her practice. April has received intensive training from the Vancouver School for Narrative Therapy and Solution Talk Ltd.

Colleen Lucas, Ph.D.
Registered Psychologist

Colleen believes that we all have the power within us to tackle the difficulties we encounter in life and create the change we wish to see. She works with individuals to access their inner strength, whether dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or simply wanting to make a change in their life and not sure where or how to begin.

Michael Sorsdahl, C.D, Ph.D (Ed), MA, R. Psych, C.C.C., R.C.C., GCDF-i
Registered Psychologist

Michael specializes in crisis and trauma issues (PTSD), LGBTQ2I+ issues, men’s issues, and complex life transitions in all forms. Based in an experiential form of therapy, he utilizes an integrated approach that combines the principles of a ‘here and now’ focus to therapy (Gestalt), while building a safe therapeutic environment (person-centered), and exploring the underlying meaning for clients (existential) to find the best collaborated path to achieve the client’s goals. Interventions may also include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and practical strategies, EMDR (level 1 and 2 trained), and therapeutic enactment as needed.

Matt Hudson, M.S.W.
Registered Social Worker

With 25 years of clinical Social Work practice, Matt draws on extensive practice and educational experience to gain an understanding of each clients unique life influences.  Once understanding and clarity is achieved, practical treatment interventions can be provided through gentle direction and guidance so as to best assist with desired change.
